Gemini Terminates the Crypto Earn Program in the Wake of DCG Collapse

Gemini Terminates the Crypto Earn Program in the Wake of DCG Collapse WikiBit 2023-01-12 17:18

Following the most recent phenomenon, the conflict between Gemini and the Genesis gang has intensified.

The flagship Earn program's interest-bearing item has been formally discontinued by Gemini. On January 10, this message was distributed through email. The existing Master Loan Agreements between Gemini and Genesis Global Capital, which was in charge of managing the Earn program on behalf of its clients, have been terminated.

This action by Gemini is a continuation of the widely publicized conflict with Genesis and itself. Gemini stated in the email it issued to its clients on Tuesday that it was ending the programme in an effort to convince Genesis to pay back the $900 million the firm owed the exchange's users.

The email noted:

“We are writing to let you know that Gemini—acting as agent on your behalf—has terminated the Master Loan Agreement (MLA) between you and Genesis Global Capital, LLC (Genesis), effective as of January 8, 2023.”

Also stated by the business, “This officially terminates the Earn Program and requires Genesis to return all assets outstanding in the program. Existing redemption requests are not impacted and continue to await fulfillment by Genesis.”

As previously indicated, the email claimed that the company would arrive at a solution for the clients who want to reclaim their assets and that the current cash withdrawals won't be impacted.

The “Highest Priority” Is Recovering User Funds

The exchange has stated that it plans to give consumers regular updates on the status twice a week in order to maintain its commitment to reassuring users that their funds will be returned. Tuesdays and Fridays are the days described, up till things start to get better.

The market declared that getting the user property back is their “top priority” and that they will move “with the utmost urgency” to fix the problem.

For Gemini's Earn service, which allowed customers to earn around 8% percent on their cryptocurrency, Genesis was the program's main partner. At the end of 2022, withdrawals from the platform came to an end. Clients who have Earn amounts can now display them as “Pending Balances” while they wait for the exchanger to get their money back.

What Is Genesis' Opinion?

In a statement, a Genesis representative acknowledged that the corporation does not concur with all of Gemini's viewpoints. The representative added the following:

“Genesis was disappointed that Gemini is waging a public media campaign despite ongoing productive private dialogue between the parties. This is a very complex process that will take some additional time, but we are committed to moving as quickly as possible.”

After FTX failed, Genesis' lending division was closed down in November 2022. The monies used by Gemini Earn customers on the platform were subsequently frozen.
