The exchange has issued a warning to anyone who received compensation from FTX or any of its former officials, stating that it will attempt to recoup any lost money, even if it was given to a good cause.

The bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX has stated that it is contemplating using lawful methods to recoup any payouts or donations made by its affiliated companies and former executives, which may include the thousands of dollars donated to political causes by the company's former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried.

In a press release on December 19, FTX stated that it had previously “been approached by a number of receivers of contributions or other payments” given by, or at the instruction of, Sam Bankman-Fried or other executives, and that these companies had requested “directions for the return of such monies.”

Following Bankman-arrest of Fried's and conviction just last week, three illustrious Democratic organizations vowed to repay more than $1 million in campaign donations.

When questioned on Dec. 13 about whether the Biden government will return the $5.2 million in campaign contributions originally provided by Bankman-Fried, a press secretary for the White House chose not to respond.

In a latest comment, FTX asked recipients of monies to “make arrangements for the return of such payments,” admonishing them that the market would initiate legal proceedings to recover the funds with interests if they were not surrendered freely.

Legal professionals earlier issued a warning that up to $73 million in political donations made by FTX might be recovered in order to pay the rumored 1 million creditors who are owed between $10 billion and $50 billion in the company's bankruptcy case.

During this time, certain U.S. According to reports, Congress members who received political donations from FTX donated the money to a good cause in an effort to dissociate themselves from the exchange and its creator.

According to reports, members of Congress like Senate Democratic whip Dick Durbin and Democratic House leader-elect Hakeem Jeffries have contributed money they got from FTX to different causes.

The Salvation Army collected $11,600 through Republican Senator John Hoeven's gifts from Bankman-Fried and FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame.

But FTX asserted that these philanthropic throws won't be sufficient to prevent it from pursuing the monies, saying:

“Making a payment or donation to a third party (including a charity) [...] Does not prevent the FTX Debtors from seeking recovery.”

Democratic House leader-elect Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin, as according to sources, have donated money they received from FTX to other charities.

Through the donations made by Bankman-Fried and Ryan Salame, co-CEO of FTX Digital Markets, to Republican Senator John Hoeven, the Salvation Army was able to raise $11,600.

However, FTX argued that these charitable gestures won't be enough to stop it from seeking the funds, saying:

While director of engineering Nishad Singh gave at least $500,000 to the Oregon Democrats, other FTX leaders including Salame contributed about $20 million to Republican candidates.

On December 13, Bankman-Fried was accused of breaking several campaign funding regulations, such as those pertaining to contributions, hindering the work of the Federal Election Commission, and contributing money on behalf of other people.
