Samsung Securities Submits Application to Establish a Cryptocurrency Exchange

Samsung is reportedly thinking about launching its own cryptocurrency exchange, highlighting that the start of a crypto winter hasn't stopped large multinational firms from learning more about the world of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.

The first half of 2023 will see the opening of an exchange, according to NewsPim, which cites applications from Samsung Securities, Mirae Asset Securities, and five other sizable brokerage firms. According to the article, Samsung is presently researching the best way to enter the cryptocurrency exchange industry after its attempt to create a trading platform for cryptocurrencies in 2021 failed as a result of a lack of the necessary manpower.

By market capitalization, Mirae Asset Securities CoLimited, which has $648 billion under its management, is South Korea's biggest investment bank and stock brokerage firm. Mirae has established a subsidiary under its consulting division Mirae Consulting to run the exchange. For the purpose of studying and creating cryptocurrencies and other blockchain-based systems, Mirae is looking to engage technical personnel.

After getting final permission, it is projected that the exchanges would launch in the first half of 2023. Since Yoon Suk-Yeol was recently elected as the president of South Korea, there has been an increase in institutional interest from South Korean companies. The incoming president vowed to deregulate the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency markets while running for office.
