For an upcoming merger, CME Group has launched ether options.

According to CME Group's Tim McCourt, the global head of equity and foreign exchange products:

“As market participants anticipate the upcoming Ethereum Merge, a potentially game-changing update of one of the largest cryptocurrency networks, interest in Ether derivatives is surging.”

With the merger scheduled for September 15, CME Party needs to provide Ether traders more flexibility. Genesis's global head of sales, Leon Marshall, said:

“The launch of the new Ether options contract ahead of the highly anticipated Ethereum Merge provides our clients with greater flexibility to trade and hedge their Ether price risk.”

Given that the merging will shift the consensus algorithm from proof-of-work (PoW) to proof-of-stake, it is believed that this will be the biggest software upgrade in the Ethereum ecosystem (PoS).

The different possibilities would accompany Ether futures from CME Group, which have seen a 43% increase in average daily trading over the past year.

The DRW's chief of relationship management, Rob Strebel, stated:

“As ether transitions through the anticipated merge this week, we expect we'll continue to see strong demand for this Ether options contract.”

The amount of speculation on the network has increased dramatically as a result of the much anticipated Ethereum merger, according to Blockchain.News. The ETH network's open interest demonstrated that there was more purchasing pressure than selling.

On the other hand, a hard-fork method is anticipated to be implemented 24 hours following the merging.
